Due to the COVID-19 quarantine, residents have expressed more interest in this year’s clean up event, so the Village will acquire another dumpster to handle the extra volume. Items we cannot take include: tires, car batteries, used oil or anti-freeze, items with mercury (such as tubes and florescent bulbs), hazardous chemicals and paint, appliances with freon and gas grill propane tanks. Here's
a link to the Licking County Recycling Guide to help dispose of these Items: https://lickingcounty.gov/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx...
*Our residential contracted refuse service is Adkins Disposal -phone: (740) 349-0029. They take large appliances without freon, paint if its dried up (either open the lid and let dry or add kitty litter), mattresses and furniture if it is wrapped in plastic. You will need to call first so they can plan for extra help if needed.
We received this message from the Ohio EPA:
Dear Building Occupants, Owners and Tenants,
In accordance with Ohio's statewide transition plan announced April 27, 2020, and as buildings re-open that have had little to no water usage during the Stay at Home Order due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to flush water that has been stagnant in both cold- and hot-water distribution lines and fixtures. Low water usage can contribute to bacterial growth, including Legionella which can cause a serious type of pneumonia called Legionnaires' disease. It can also cause other water quality issues with potential health risks due to the build-up of lead and copper in stagnant water that's been collecting in older pipes and fixtures.
As buildings reopen, it is critical to drain, flush, and if necessary, based on a review of building conditions, disinfect the hot and cold-water systems to remove harmful contaminants. Devices that store water, such as drinking water fountains, water heaters, storage tanks, and any droplet or mist-forming devices such as cooling towers, humidifiers, showerheads, and certain medical and manufacturing devices and process equipment should also be flushed and disinfected in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations or industry best practices.
The Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency have issued the "Guidance for Premise Plumbing Water Service Restoration."
Please note that this guidance applies to the water systems of all types of buildings that are unoccupied or partially occupied during the COVID-19 pandemic, including but not limited to office buildings, manufacturing facilities, medical offices (e.g., physician and dentist offices, ambulatory surgery centers, outpatient centers, etc.), government facilities, and religious institutions. If you are a tenant of a building, we recommend that you share this information with the building owner, building manager, or management company and ask them to consider taking these precautions.

For those who wish to pay their water utility bills, court fines, or need services in person, the Village of Hebron Municipal Building will open its doors to the public on Monday, May 11th. Office hours will be from 9 a.m. -4 p.m. Monday-Friday at least until the end of the month. Patrons will still have the ability to pay their bills online, by phone, or via the drop box on the Northwest side of our parking lot if you choose (please note, the third-party vendor charges a small fee to pay online or by phone).
The Village of Hebron is announcing the completion of three projects designed to improve customer service and poise the Village for future growth. These include the launch of a new website, rolling out its new branding logo and opening up a remodeled Municipal lobby.
Mayor Jim Layton said “We are excited to offer our residents and the general public a modern and stream-lined means to access Village services, stay informed during the current health crisis and learn more about our great community. We will also be using the website as a tool to amp up our economic development efforts to showcase Hebron as a great place to live, work, and play.” The new Hebron website is located at www.hebronvillage.org
Village Administrator Steve DeBolt added “We are also taking this opportunity to introduce our new branding logo which preserves the Village’s heritage as the “Historic Crossroads of Ohio” while including a new modern slogan “Where Our Paths Connect”.
Hebron was a center of commerce in the 1800’s due to its geographic location having multiple primary transportation routes intersecting from different directions in Hebron. These included the National Road (U.S. 40), State Route 79, Ohio Erie Canal and two railroads. Although the canal has gone by the wayside, Interstate 70 is a major thoroughfare that also traverses the southern end of the Village.
Although the new brand was developed prior to the start of COVID-19, it is appropriate that we present it now as we ‘reconnect’ with family and friends and start to get back to work.” DeBolt thanked Michelle Newman, and Jodi Melfi of Jodi Melfi Design, who contracted with the Village for the website and logo design respectively, and Village employees Christina Furbee and Linda Nicodemus for their dedicated work on both projects. He also thanked Project Architecture and Construction Company, and Village employee Angie McVicker for their detailed work on the lobby renovation.
The Village will be opening its remodeled lobby to walk-in customers for the first time since closing its lobby on March 20th due to COVID-19.
The Village of Hebron will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 1-6pm at the Hebron Municipal Complex located at 934 W. Main Street, Hebron. For safety purposes, this drive will not accept walk-in donors. Contact Angie McVicker at 740-928-2261 to make an appointment. Thank you.
