LCHD offers COVID-19 vaccine at walk-in clinics

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 05/06/2021 LICKING COUNTY, OHIO –

The Licking County Health Department (LCHD) is expanding availability for COVID-19 vaccinations by offering the vaccine without an appointment at our walk-in clinics. Walk-in clinics make it easier for county residents who would like to be vaccinated for protection against COVID-19.

Beginning Monday, May 10, LCHD will offer the COVID-19 vaccine with no appointment at the health department’s walk-in clinics, located at 675 Price Road in Newark. The walk-in clinics are available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LCHD is currently administering the Pfizer vaccine at our walk-in clinics, which can be given to individuals aged 16 and up.

All minors are asked to have a parent/guardian present with them at the vaccine clinic. If a minor arrives with an adult who is not their parent/guardian, they need to provide a written statement from the parent/guardian granting permission for the vaccine.

Please bring proof of identification to receive a vaccine.

In an effort to reduce barriers, LCHD is coordinating mobile vaccine clinics at remote locations throughout Licking County to meet individuals where they are. Details about upcoming mobile clinics will be released through LCHD’s email newsletters and social media channels.

Expanding LCHD’s COVID-19 vaccination distribution program helps reach the underserved and vulnerable populations to ensure equitable distribution of the vaccine in Licking County.

Individuals who are homebound may call LCHD at (740) 349-6535 to arrange a COVID-19 vaccination at their home.

The Licking County Transit Board provides free transportation to and from all vaccine clinics in Licking County. Community members can call Transit to request service to a vaccine clinic, letting the dispatcher know it's for a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule a ride, call 740-670-5185 and press 1 or call 1-800-350-7071.

COVID-19 vaccines have been proven safe and effective at preventing serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. Getting vaccinated can help protect you from contracting COVID-19. Health experts say vaccinations are the clearest path to achieving herd immunity in Ohio.

There is no out-of-pocket cost to get a COVID-19 vaccine. LCHD may ask for the patient's insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid information to charge an administration fee to insurance. However, the individual will not pay a fee directly.

Learn more about LCHD's COVID-19 vaccination distribution program on their website's FAQ page.

Mosquito Control

ATTENTION HEBRON RESIDENTS

The Village of Hebron will begin the 2021 mosquito control program in May. As weather permits, a member of the Public Works Department will be treating for mosquitoes each Friday morning at approximately 3:00 AM. We may treat more than once a week in specified areas, depending on conditions. We will not treat on mornings with rain, high winds, temperatures below 60 degrees, or in an area where people are outdoors at the time of treating. The treatments will continue until further notice.

The driver will have information on the product with him. A copy is also on file at the Hebron Municipal Complex for review.

Anyone with respiratory problems should close their windows and remain inside during the time treatments are conducted.

Residents may assist by eliminating standing water in objects around the property. Stagnant water serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
